Both my girlfriend and I are hardcore teeth grinders and clenchers. Sometimes, she’ll clench so hard that she has trouble opening her mouth in the morning. I get headaches from doing it. Obviously, we’re stressed, but until we can get that figured out, we thought some night time mouth guards might be a good band-aid.
This particular set from Dental Care comes with two sets of two different sizes and a case to store them in. The sets are either very small or very large. There’s no in between, unfortunately. They do advertise that you can cut them, and modify them to your liking, but there’s no going back once you have modified them.
Molding them is a relatively simple process. You boil some water, dunk the guards in the water for a bit, take them out, and stick them in your mouth. Getting them to mold tightly to your mouth structure, however, is trickier. Admittedly, I wasn’t able to get the bottom jaw one to fit well, even after trying twice, once with both sizes. I did get the top one pretty well adhered, but it still would fall loose if I opened my mouth too widely (a problem for snoring).

Once I got mine fitted, and my girlfriend had one decently enough, it was time for sleep. They are pretty bulky in your mouth, and I had trouble keeping my mouth closed. It should be noted, I do not have a small mouth. There’s a lot of room in there, but the mouth guard managed to need more room anyway.
After I got accustomed to the feeling of it in my mouth, I didn’t have any trouble sleeping with it. I think it helped with the grinding a little bit, because my jaw didn’t feel as sore, but I did notice that the back end of it was already worn pretty far down. My back teeth were touching, and before I went to sleep they were not.

These mouth guards are good for what they are. They’re priced accordingly, as well. If you aren’t a severe grinder, like I am, I think they would work fine. I’m giving them a three because they do claim to be a little more versatile than they are.
